Summer 1997 East Coast Tour USA

On a ferry en route to Liberty Island, NY.

I have long lost contact with 2 of my best travelling buddies, until recently we met again through Facebook. What better way to reconnect besides reminiscing on fun time together.

In this summer of 1997, 5 of us (Kelvin not in pix) went for East Coast tour encompassing several states - Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Washington, New Jersey, New York, Massachusettes and Canada. I actually have a collection of Hard Rock Cafe's tiny prices tag for each cafe we visited in each state - the cheapest and most creative ways to keep free souvenirs!

I remember that we were so anxious to visit so many interesting places and were so damn happy to be there. We parked our car at Battery Park and walked past the grand strip overseeing Manhattan. I could still remember the fresh air, the breathtaking view and the joy deep inside to be able to touch this statue. We spent almost 3 hours queuing to climp up the Lady up to her crown, and got a glimpse of NY City through the crown's tiny windows. Simply Amazing!

Look at those faces - worry-free, stress-free and definitely happy. Well, we vow to visit these places again in our 40s/50s/60s/70s. Hope that we can make it, with the same excitement as we used to.

What great times they were - college days I mean. These times I can still recall with vivid technicolor as these were the best of times - The days that influence and shape your character. Patutlah Rasullullah suruh kita travel. You also cleanse your soul as you begin to appreciate how hard it was for our forefathers (including zaman nabi2) to change the mindset of his/her people and the world.
For me, I want to go to every continent. Been to North America and Europe only. Been to several places in Asia but wish to go to Kremlin. Toughest would be the continents at the poles. Let's hope when I get there, the icecaps are still there.
